Creamed Spinach


This recipe can be made with frozen or fresh spinach.

  • 12 oz(s) Spinach, frozen
  • 2 Tbsp(s) Butter, unsalted
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp(s) Flour, all purpose
  • 1/2 cup(s) Heavy Cream
  • 1/4 tsp(s) Salt
  • 1 dash(es) White Pepper
  • 1 dash(es) Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 pinch(es) Mace

Creamed Spinach Directions

  1. Cook the spinach as directed on package if frozen. If fresh, steam the spinach until wilted. Remove as much of the liquid as you can. In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter over low-medium heat (3 of 10). Stir in the flour until well blended. Add the cream and heat until sauce thickens. Stir constantly. Add the spinach, salt, pepper, nutmeg and cayenne. Cook for a few minutes stirring with a spatula.
